with Roxanne Small
Town midfielder Roxanne Small tells me her best football moment, what she loves must about football and more.
How did you first get into the game?
If I remember rightly.. as it was quite a long time ago lol. Me and my twin sister were scouted whilst playing for our school football team.
How long have you been at Ipswich?
I've played for Ipswich Town ladies since under 12's... had 1 or 2 seasons out so.. around about 16years. Very loyal I'd say.. Ipswich is the only club I've played for aside from County.
What would you say are your best attributes as a player?
Probably my speed .. I'm pretty quick 4 my age lol and I do throw myself around quite a bit I like to get stuck in.. spend most of the game on the floor haha!
What has been your best football moment so far?
Hard to pin point a single one but the most recent Playing at Portman road was a definite highlight!
Scoring in a cup final is always a winner.. especially against Sudbury, Also scoring against Palace was my favourite this season.. I don't score many like that so it's nice to milk it! lol....
Do you have a role model/inspiration?
My team mates inspire me.. everyone has there own quality they bring to the team....Love my girls!
Who do you consider to be the best female footballer?
Well I have a few favourite English players, Aluko, Scott and Carney I like the way they play, there's a lot of great players out there especially the young ones coming through but it's always good to have some experienced seasoned players on the field.
What are your ambitions in football?
To retire before I get injured!
What do you love most about football?
The thing I love most about football is I have a ready made social life.. I'd have no friends otherwise...
What is your favourite thing to do away from football?
I like to go to the gym then treat myself to a nandos.
Any advice for young girls looking to play football?
Get involved! There's lots of clubs about.. Ipswich obviously would be 1st choice.. ha. It's great exercise, you'll meet some great people, womens football is bigger than its ever been, it's a great time to get involved at any level.
