Town fan Isaac Brindley discusses his first Town game, favourite Town goal and more.
How did you become a Town fan?
When I was 4 years old My mum taught me how to play football so I developed a love for the sport and living in Woodbridge near Ipswich at the time so I supported the local team which was the Tractor Boys and even though I have lived all over the country I have stuck with them ever since.
First Town game. Year/team/score/ground?
My first town game was at Portman Road in the 1997/98 season against Bury. We won 2-0. I remember missing one of goals because I was young at the time the crowd around me knew we were going to score so they stood up before me. I went with my Dad and my uncle who is a derby county fan.
Favourite Town player of all time and why?
It has to be Marcus Stewart. I was just fascinated growing up watching him score at Portman Road a lot. I wanted to be like him on the football field when play football at primary school (back in the day).
Worst moment as a Town Fan?
I would agree with many supporters that getting relegated from the premier league was a sad moment and it was. But for a different bad moment for me which may seem unusual was when we played Derby County at Pride Park on 1st October 2013 when we 4-1 up at half time and draw 4-4 come full time. It was really annoying as the rest of my family are Derby County fans and wouldn't stop taking the mick out of me. It was a long drive home.
Favourite Town goal ever and why?
Has to be Pablo Counago'a goal against Coventry City in 2010. Coventry equalised on it being full time. Well over the injury time by 1 minute or so and 30 seconds after Coventry equaliser Counago scored to make it 3-2, I remember the crowd erupting. What an end it was to a night. The passion that night was immense.
Best Ipswich Town captain of all time and why?
I know many people would say Matt Holland and yes he was a great leader on the field and captain but I want to say Luke Chambers. He is a great bloke to meet and down to earth but the passion on the pitch he shows is immense with getting the players going and the crowd. And oh that fist pump is always a good moment!
Favourite piece of Town memorabilia is?
Two things really. A photo of George Burley and I on a golf course. He was in my four ball golf team which really good! Also I managed to get Danny Haynes football boots. A few of my friends played for ipswich and they cleaned the players boots so my friend gave me Danny Haynes boots after Danny gave them to him. Nice gift! They have his name on the bottom.
Greatest Town game you have watched & why?
Easy one this. The play off final at the old Wembley when we beat Barnsley 4-2. Was such a magical moment. As soon as that goal from Reseur went in on the final minute and you knew we were then promoted. Such a great feeling with emotion.
Who is your favourite Town manager and why?
This could be a few to be honest but in my life time I would say George Burley. Winning the play offs to go to the premiership and in the first season of the premiership finishing 5th to get into the UEFA cup was amazing!
Most memorable Town moment as a fan of Ipswich and why?
Last year my fiancé surprised me with a golf day with last seasons Ipswich Town team and managers. That was an amazing time to meet them, dine with the players and play golf with them of course. I have to say Jay Tabb is a dam good golfer! You feel like a big kid again meeting the players!
