Dominic Iorfa’s Season-Long Loan Brings Positivity
Written By Ethan Turner
The rumours of a new signing were gladly encountered by the arrival of Wolves right-back Dominic Iorfa. The 22-year-old joins Town on a season long-loan having made 93 appearances in league and cup since his debut in December 2014. Not once finding the back of the net. But don’t be disheartened, the England Under-21 international has seemingly got abundance of talent and capability in his locker to improve our defensive positions.
Premier league clubs were supposedly interested in Iorfa, but a lack of playing time meant that he would happily arrive at Portman Road.
The reaction from both sets of fans was primarily favourable, with Wolves glad that it was only a season-long loan and not a permanent deal. On the other hand, Wanderers fans were gutted to not see Iorfa play at the Molineux in the forthcoming season.
Evidently showing the full-back has recognisable potential. Town fans were also pleased and excited with reactions on social media saying that Iorfa is a ‘good signing’ and would much rather have him starting over Spence. It’s difficult to make that decision having not seen Dominic play yet in a Town shirt.
He is clearly admired by many Wolves fans, and if given the playing time, could be a fantastic addition to the squad. The player himself has also made his ambitions clear, whilst with the tractor boys, pointing out that McCarthy had told him that Play-Offs was the intention.
Overall business for Ipswich has been busier than usual. But that shouldn’t be taken for granted. It’s still uncertain whether the signings are quality, not quantity, which is the mistake Town made last season.
The departure of Brett Pittman and loans for Kieffer Moore and Josh Emmanuel has given the opportunity to bring new players into the club, whilst monitoring current ones. There’s been an obvious effort which has engaged Town fans, may it continue and bring a new segment of life to Portman Road.
