Forward Town forward Pablo Counago tells me the best player he play with, his pre match routine and more.
What was your most memorable match?
My most memorable match was the Under 20 World Champion Cup Final, when we won and I scored 2 goals which helped me to get the Golden Boot.
Who was the best player you played with and why ?
The best player I've played with is Xavi, he's one of the best (if not the best) in the Football History.
Who was your toughest player you played against and why?
Ronaldinho and Ronaldo scare only having them close... but playing as a striker, the toughest defenders for me were Puyol and Sergio Ramos. Ramos is like a rock, so strong and Puyol very very clever player.
What was your favourite ground you played at and why?
Santiago Bernabeu and Anfield because They are historical and for me It was always a Child dream to play there. But, Portman Road will always be my favourite one for the great atmosphere and great fans, they always made me feel at home there. (I miss it!)
Who was the best manager you played under and why?
It is very difficult to choose one as I learnt from all of them. I think that Iñaki Saez was the one who best understood my football and got the best of me.
What was your pre match routine? eg luck item, superstitions
I'm not a superstitious person in my life but I normally do the same things again, if we get a victory in the previous match, same food, same underwear, same boots, same walk the morning of the game...
Do you follow Ipswich's progress or attend any of their games?
Yes, even though I don´t watch the games I look up the results and reports. I haven't been at Portman Road since I left U.K.
Do you keep in touch with any of your former team mates and if so who?
Yes, I´m working with Shefki in Finland at the moment and keep in touch with Tommy Miller.
Now you are no longer playing football how do you occupy yourself?
I´m still playing at the moment so I´ll answer this one in a couple of years (hehehe)
If you could go back and do one thing differently, what would it be?
I've made good and bad decisions through my career but I'd change none of them... or a lot of them... One thing is for sure, I'd start all over again.
