Former Town midfielder Darren Currie tells me his most memorable match, if he could go back and more.
What was your most memorable match?
There's 2 games that are equally memorable: My debut for Town, the way the move came about made it a crazy 48 hours plus the win and my goal at QPR made it a mad couple of days.
And my professional debut at 18 for Shrewsbury, I met the players 1 hour before Kick-off, we won and I scored one of my best goals in my career a goal I'm really proud of.
Who was the best player you played with and why ?
It has to be a midfielder/creative passer type player, there the players that excite me, I can think of a few but Jim Magilton has to be the best player I played with.
Who was your toughest opponent and why?
Charlie Oatway and Richard Carpenter both at Brighton, difficult because they both kicked lumps out of me and enjoyed it..! Eventually we became team-mates and I understood there personalities, both great lads.
What was your favourite ground you played at and why?
Anfield because I've been a LFC fan since I was a little boy and it's an incredible experience playing in front of the kop.
Who was the best manager you played under and why?
Joe Royle, He was a huge character and a great man manager, his personality and people skills was an ideal fit for me. I loved playing for him.
What was your pre match routine? eg luck item, superstitions
I kissed my feet in the warm up and wished them luck.
Do you follow Ipswich's progress or attend any of their games?
I always look for Town's result and come back to Portman Road whenever possible.
Do you keep in touch with any of your former team mates and if so who?
Quite a few of the lads I played at Town with, Horlock, Magic, Miller, de Vos, Fab, Bowditch, Richards, Unsworth all great lads.
Now you are no longer playing football how do you occupy yourself?
I am assistant manager at Dagenham & Redbridge in League 2.
If you could go back and do one thing differently, what would it be?
Run faster...! Ha I'm not someone who looks back and regrets but I would love to had played at Ipswich for a lot longer than I did.
